Meta announced yesterday that they are scrapping the reels play bonus program.
Why?? It's not sustainable or easy to track...
1. It's hard to link ad performance to a specific reel or creator
2. In-feed ads can't be used because of how short the video clips are
This means that they have been relying on their creator funds, but as more creators join the platform, there's less $$ to go around.
So... What are they doing? Meta plans to expand advertising on reels, which would allow for more traditional revenue-sharing arrangements for creators.
What should you do? Make sure you have your payout account set up to cash out anything you've recently made and wait for the updated plans!
